On August 14th, we went to Yellostone National Park to do some backpacking. I had planned to have my Mom take James and Sarah overnight, but Marianne thought it would be funner to stay with Grandma as well, so we only took Thomas and William with us. We met Melissa, (Richard's sister) Kevin, and their son Josh, and headed off down the two-mile trail.

Pretty flowers along the trailside.
This is just after we got to our camp site. William wanted to take my picture.
Thomas took this picture after we were all set up and sitting around the campfire.
I think this one wins. Isn't it a great picture of Kevin, Melissa, and Josh?
Just past our camp site was Cascade Lake. It seemed pretty desolate. I am not sure what Thomas is doing here, but I thought it was cute anyway. The boys spent much of the time chopping away at dead wood with this machete. Luckily, at Yellowstone, there is plenty of dead wood to go around.
More pretty foliage.
The next morning we packed up and headed back out. We were hoping to see some cool wildlife out in the back country, but all we saw were a couple squirells, and some really big droppings. We did see an elk on the side of the road as we were driving, but that was almost too easy to be cool. Oh well. Maybe next year...
"Happy Campers!"
