I used to take ballet too. For a while there, that's what I wanted to be when I grew up. A ballerina.
That is, until the day my teacher spanked me. Then I wanted to quit. Nothing against the teacher. I look back and realize I deserved it. I thought it would be cute to go on stage during another group's performance. I only walked down and back up the side stairs that go from the stage into the audience. (How was I to know the audience could actually see me?) As I walked back behind the curtain, there she was. Waiting for me. I think I may be able to trace all of my insecurity issues to this one incident.
Just kidding. There are several incidents in which I can trace my insecurity issues. But, that's another book for another time.
Someday, I still want to be a ballerina, but I am afraid it will have to wait until the next life. When it comes to dancing, I have about as much coordination as a two-year-old.
Anyway, back to Snow White. Here is a little video clip of her performance. I edited a lot of it out just so you have the idea. I thought she did great, and although she was supposed to be "Grumpy" (the dwarf) she couldn't help but show those dimples. However, even with a frown, I'm thinking they may have missed the mark on making those costumes look much like "dwarfs". So, use your imagination and enjoy!
A couple shots that I took at her dress rehearsal.
Definitely the prettiest grumpy dwarf I've ever seen!
Here she is with her "wanna-be" ballerina mother.
Just thought I would throw this in here. This is me back in my ballet days. I was wearing tap shoes in this picture, because we also learned tap. (Didn't like tap as much, however. The shoes were just way too uncomfortable. And noisy!)

You'll always be my doll. Thanks for taking me down memory lane. :)
ReplyDeleteI was in a dance recital in 8th grade. To this day, my Mom and my Husband love to tell about how bad I was. My mom laughs until she cries.
