Then and Now

I was looking back at this picture from my childhood the other day. I was seven. And, I have decided that William looks a lot like I did without the longer, curly hair. But, that's just my opinion.
My Dad developed these pictures in his dark room with all the developing supplies he inherited from my Grandpa.
It seems that this was so long ago.
So much has happened since then...
So much has changed...
It was back when I had an obsession with Annie. I remember asking only for an Annie doll and balloons for Christmas that year. And, my brothers called me "poodle head". Or, something along those lines.

I also loved dolls. I played house all the time and pretended that my dolls were my real children, as I am sure most of us women did when we were girls. Am I right?

Then I realized that this picture has a few striking similarities to one that was taken of me just a year ago.

Maybe not much has changed after all...

  1. KaraLyn, This post is so beautiful. After I read it the other day when I tucked my little girl in I found her snuggled up with her two little dolls. It just got me thinking about how sweet it is that many little girls do this-- just love their little dolls so much and dream of the day they will be mothers. And then they grow up to be wonderful Mothers. You are an inspiring Mom :)
