Here are some pictures that were taken after the funeral at the graveside service.
My parents set up these display tables at the funeral. I especially liked that they printed up many of Granddad's "famous" sayings.
Granddad was very patriotic and always taught us the importance of being involved by voting and raising a voice on important issues. He served as an Idaho State Legislator for two (or three) terms.
Tractors and horses were two things I associated with my Granddad when I was young. He used to own horses, which we would get to ride on occasion, and he started a farm equipment business, Tri-County Equipment, which was later bought by his sons.
My brother, Kevin, looks so much like my Granddad did in his younger years. He was so handsome and my Grandma, Maxine, beautiful! Granddad wrote two books in his later years. One called, Ethel, a tribute to and life history of his own mother, Ethel. And one called, Shoot, Move, and Communicate", documenting his days in the army as a young soldier. We treasure these books. What a gift he has given to his posterity!
I took that picture of Granddad playing his harmonica as we sat around a campfire at a family reunion in 2011. He was also passionate about the Scouting program. He earned the Eagle award as well as the Silver Beaver, and probably others. He was inducted into the Boy Scout Hall of Fame just a year or two before he passed away.
And lastly, a few pictures at the family luncheon. It was a beautiful day of remembrance for a wonderful man and amazing example. I am proud and grateful to be Cyril Burt's Granddaughter. I know he is watching out for me here and that I will be reunited with him someday. :)
Our last family picture with Grandma and Granddad before they were moved to the Homestead Assisted Living Center. Taken June, 2012.
