Richard's Senior Recital

For those who don't live close by and haven't had the priveledge of keeping up with our fantastically fascinating lives, you may not understand why Richard, at 32, has just now held his "senior" recital. Brief update: After we were married, Richard and I had the grand idea to start up a music store in Rexburg. At the time, there were none. Richard had finished two years studying music at Ricks College, and he intended to finish, but then life happened. We were so busy having kids, teaching students privately and in school orchestras, holding summer music camps, and trying to figure out how to run a business, that school was pretty much the last thing on our minds. So, here he is, twelve years later, taking a few classes here and there. He still has a few (or more) to go, and someday he may actually graduate. Or not. Either way, he is still practicing and progressing on his violin like there is no tomorrow. And, he proved it in his wonderful performance on March 27th.

Here is the poster he designed himself to hang various places around town.

He also designed and put together the program ("menu") himself. Marybeth Jones, a talented pianist and teacher in town, accompanied him - such a wonderful lady! And, if you will notice, I got to join him for dessert! It was a very fun, memorable experience. I hope we get to do it lots more!

He definitely had the audience laughing.

Introducing my hilariously funny, amazingly talented husband:

There was a time in my life when I experienced cold clammy hands, an audible heart beat, and uncontrolable shaking for myself only. Not anymore. I get so nervous for him and my children whenever they perform. It must be a mom thing.

We had so many friends and family who came to support us. We feel so blessed. It meant so much.

One of our beloved violin teachers, Florence Romney. She now lives just yards away, and our children get to glean from her knowledge and experience in the ward orchestra, and musical numbers they participate in. Once again, we feel so blessed.

With three of my handsome brothers: Jared, Lance, and Trev. Our biggest fans all the way. ;)

Richard and Brian Ashton. They couldn't stop laughing/pondering over...something...

And, of course, the kids were there. Whose wise idea was THAT??? Oh yeah...mine. Oh well, they certainly had fun. Maybe a little too much. Well, they had too much dessert anyway. They saw an opportunity and took full advantage.

The classroom where we held the reception afterwards provided plenty of free entertainment.

And the kids provided plenty of entertainment for all the guests. Lovely.

Thanks for all of you who came, and for those who didn't, we hope to see you next time...
