Soakin' It Up!

Well, by the time we get music camp out of the way and recover, it's August already. That leaves about three weeks of summer vacation before school starts. After two months of kids asking, "When are we going to do something fun?" we can finally say something besides, "Not until after music camp." Although, I am pretty sure the kids had plenty of fun before and during music camp.

Here are a few things we have been doing to try to have a little more "fun" before school starts.

We spent a day and night at the Ashton's in Badger Creek. Brian and Natalie are always great to hang out with, and the kids all love to play together. It's especially amusing to watch these two hooligans!

Brigham let James borrow his pj's (As James would say, "bajammies".) so they could match. I love the holes in the feet. James actually has a set of pj's just like them at home with holes in the feet. This is only one of many ways that these two are so much alike. I love boys at this age!

Then there was this adorable creature. The one in the red hat is pretty adorable, but I'm talking about the little one. The one trying to get away from the one in the red hat.

Showing off their crafts that Natalie helped them make. It was a nice getaway. I would have taken more pictures, but I guess I was just too busy relaxing. Thanks, Brian and Natalie!

Sometimes, I like to just play around with my camera a bit and take strange pictures. The kids spent a lot of time and had a lot of fun playing in the little swimming pool in the backyard this summer.

We took a quick trip to Idaho Falls one day and James fell asleep. His poor head was hanging down so far we thought for sure it would just fall right off. So, we told Marianne to hold it up for him. Obviously, this plan only worked for about three seconds, so Richard told her to tie a jacket around his head. Thomas helped her, and I have to admit, it worked like a charm. James was a little confused when he woke up, but hey, his head was still attached!

Then one day I decided to go the extra mile. I decided to be wonder-mom and really go out of my way. I took the kids to the park.

You mean, you take your kids to the park on a weekly basis? Every day? You set up play groups with other moms and kids? What are those? Crap...

Well, it was the water park. That's something, right? I did realize that I probably should have taken advantage of this little freebie earlier on in the summer because they loved it! Especially this little guy.

James didn't slow down the entire time. He was constantly squealing with delight. He might be deprived.

Okay, so he stopped a couple times to wrap himself in his towel for two seconds. But, really, it was two seconds and then he was off again.

Marianne, literally "soaking it up!"

  2. I was thinking about you today and wondering how you were doing. It looks like you had a fun summer! I love watching kids in the water! They have so much. Your family is so cute - I can't believe how big your kids are getting. I love the tying the head to the headrest idea - I will definitely be using that one.
