New Years Eve

I'm always a little sad when Christmas comes to a close. I love the family time, good food, giving, sharing, and relaxing that comes with Christmas, but New Years keeps it from ending too abruptly. In fact, I think New Years is just an excuse to continue celebrating Christmas a little longer; to squeeze in just a couple more days off and family parties; to celebrate one more festive occasion with yummy appetizers, desserts, and snacks. (Because, let's face it, we never actually eat a healthy meal on New Years Eve. Nope. New Years Eve is for pulling together all the good stuff we won't get nearly enough of in the coming 11 months.)

And now, some pictures of our final celeration in 2009!

Here are some family members playing more of this addictive game Lance made. I need to figure out what it's called. It's almost replaced 3-13 in the Burt home. Okay, maybe not, but close. And actually, my main reason for sharing this picture is so we can all admire that adorable hat Magan is wearing.

For those in a less competitive mood, a puzzle was provided. Although, when it comes to putting in the last piece, this is the most competitive of all. Of course, it's easy to win that one when you HIDE a piece and happen to find it when it's the only one left. I won't name names....you know who you are!

And, here is a prime example of the food we eat on New Year's Eve. James' dinner consisted of a sugar cookie, bacon-wrapped chestnut, mints, and a slushy drink. hmmm...

Next up: Kevin and Melissa's
New Years also happens to be Melissa's birthday, so we had a double celebration! We spent a lot of time eating, relaxing, playing the Wii, and eating. We were trying out Melissa's birthday present - Wii Resort. Richard and Kevin are sword fighting in this picture. It was intense.

Up-the-nose shots are always the best aren't they? At least we are smiling. I mostly like Thomas in this picture. Thomas makes this picture way worth the nose shots.

Thomas isn't quite as dramatic in this picture, but you can still see the crazy look in his eyes. Here are some pictures of the kids bringing in the New Year.

I even got a picture of Zoe bringing in the New Year. I believe this is called a fire-breathi... I mean, Bearded Dragon. Isn't she cute?

Here's a close-up for ya.

A sample of some of that delicious food I was talking about. This is mango, avacado salsa with lots of other good stuff. So good! I got the recipe from Kevin.

Well, I think that pretty much wraps up New Years Eve. Stay tuned for New Years Day...
