William's Baptism

On January 2, 2010 William was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This was, of course, a very special day for our family. Our ward was in charge of talks and musical numbers for the Stake meeting, and since we were the only baptism from our ward, we had the second meeting all to ourselves. Here is how the program went:

Bishop Gorton (our bishop) spoke about baptism during the stake meeting, and we (Me, Richard, Marianne, and Thomas) played a quartet, Jesus Once of Humble Birth. After this meeting, William waited his turn, and was baptized by Richard. My father (Ken Burt) and Richard's father (Hal Ferguson) were witnesses. After this, we had the confirmation meeting in which William, all of his siblings, and primary-aged cousins sang When I am Baptized. After this, my father spoke on receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. Then, William was confirmed a member of the church by Richard.

Afterwards, William wanted to eat at Pizza Hut. We invited our parents and my gradparents. In between the baptism and eating out, we ran home and had my Mom take some pictures of our family. Here are the pictures we took that day:

There is a great talk on baptism given by Elder James E. Faust. You can find it hereI am grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost in my life. It has helped me and guided me through many situations. I know that each Sunday as I partake of the sacrament, I can renew my baptismal convenants, and be cleansed. The gospel of Jesus Christ is true! We are so grateful for William and the good decisions he has made in his life up to this point. We know that as he chooses the right and follows the promptings of the Holy Ghost, he will find that he can be truly happy, and eventually know the truth of all things.
