RTO

I bet you are wondering what the "RTO" is. Okay, you probably aren't, but I'll tell you anyway. It stands for the Rexburg Tabernacle Orchestra. And, actually, I just made it up. We had our concert on November 10. I don't usually post about our concerts, but this one was a little extra special for our family. Let's see if you can guess why based on the blurry picture below. (Just trying to make it a little more challenging.)

This was a pretty big deal for Thomas. And, I am sure there were more than a few who wondered if he could pull his own weight. (Including myself!) I knew it would take a lot of practicing and hard work. But, he did it! We couldn't help but be a little proud. And, we were so grateful for his stand partner, Nate Shumway, who was so kind and helpful at the rehearsals. The program included the Saint-Seans Violin Concerto No. 3 (Doug Hansen as soloist) and Tschaikovsky's 5th Symphony, which is a huge work! After the first rehearsal Thomas said, "I didn't know we were going to be playing that piece! I love that piece!" (talking about the symphony) We are so happy that he has a growing appreciation and love of such great music!

I just had to throw in this one of Thomas with his Grandma Ferguson. So sweet.

Being the youngest and smallest in the orchestra, he got some extra attention from the audience members afterwards. He pretty much loved it. ;)

Now Marianne is asking when she can join...

  1. Wow! That is very exciting! Thomas is getting so grown up. My oldest Sierra started violin a month ago - I haven't been able to find a teacher for her yet (I wish I lived by you) I have been teaching her, but I am a much better piano teacher than violin!!
